Then vs Now

In the past, batteries were often located next to a fender, beneath the hood, or in the open. Now, however, they can be tucked away behind the hood, the floor of the trunk, a seat, or a cover, or they might have components put inboard and above them. They become more difficult to find and tougher to get rid of as a result. In order to identify the battery in your automobile, you might need to refer to the owner's manual or conduct an internet search.

It's simple to save money on vehicle maintenance by changing a car battery at home.
Instead of paying excessive garage or repair center charges, you may purchase your replacement battery anywhere, even online.

  1. Find the vehicles battery

Lock the doors, switch off the engine, and place the car in park. Be sure the engine has cooled down before looking for the battery. The majority of automobile batteries are located beneath the hood in the front, installed on a metal or plastic tray. The battery may be in the trunk of some vehicles.

  1. Find and unplug the battery connections.

The two terminals on batteries are where the cables are attached. They could have plastic coverings on them. A negative one in black and a positive one in red (positive). Additionally, the terminals may include the symbols + for positive and - for negative.

Never cut the positive cord before the negative. With a wrench, remove the bolt holding the negative connection to the battery terminal while wearing safety goggles and work gloves. When the cable connection is free, carefully twist it back and forth while lifting it up to get it out of the battery terminal.
